Near-Data Processing Accelerators

Data-intensive applications on the cloud are expected to service ever increasing numbers of users and handle exponentially growing volumes of data. Meeting these expectations is a challenge because data-intensive applications require balanced performance across the full storage hierarchy, from processor caches to disks accessed over the network. Our approach is to turn the devices that move data, i.e., Solid-State Drive (SSD) and Network Interface Card (NIC) into Near-Data Processing (NDP) accelerators based on RISC-V cores.
